The Lake District has been a source of inspiration for many artists, writers and poets over the years including George Romney, J.M.W.Turner, John Constable, William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Robert Southey, Alfred Lord Tennyson, Thomas De Quincey, Percy Bysshe Shelley, John Ruskin and more. Some of my work is influenced by this wonderful landscape.
During the 1980s / 90s much of my work was published by Christies Contemporary Art ( now CCA Galleries ). This work reflects a contemporary figurative interpretation of the landscape.
Fir Island
The Lake District has been a source of inspiration to many writers in the past including Arthur Ransome who lived in Coniston 1930-67 and used settings from Windermere and Coniston Water for his Swallows and Amazons books. Peel Island in Coniston Water becomes Wild Cat Island in Swallows and Amazons.

Fir Island draws it's inspiration from the stories of Arthur Ransome.
